(Wednesday 23rd - Monday 28th October 2019)
Our Escorted Tour is ideal for those guests who wish to relax and let Rally Travel take care of the transport to the rally stages each day.
Our experienced team will create an exciting and varied itinerary which will take you to the best of the rally action across all 4 days of the rally, starting with the Shakedown Stage on Thursday and finishing with any 'After-Rally Parties' on Sunday evening. We travel deep into the surrounding Catalan countryside to visit stages and viewing areas where the spectacular scenery matches the fast and frantic WRC action on the stages.
Combined with our excellent 4 star hotels just a few minutes walk from the Beach and the PortAventura 'Ferrari World' theme park it has all the makings of a perfect rally-themed October 'sunshine' break!
Please click on the Red Button above, or call our Reservations Team on 01765 640055 to book your package. For groups of 5 or more please email us or call for a tailor-made quote/booking.
Our Bus Transfer departs Barcelona airport at 16:00 for a journey of approximately 90 minutes down to the Rally HQ town of Salou and the 4 star Regina Gran hotel, our base for the tour.
In the evening we usually schedule an exclusive Pre-Rally Briefing at the hotel, with a Special Guest from the WRC to ensure our Guests get the latest News & Gossip from inside the sport.
In 2018 M-Sport Ford WRC Drivers Elfyn Evans & Teemu Suninen joined us along with WRC AllLives Julian Porter, followed by 4 x WRC Champion & current Toyota WRC Team boss Tommi Makinen!! A truly fantastic way to start the rally weekend off!
Our rally tour proper begins with a visit to the Shakedown stage (Last 5 years this has been just across the road from our Hotel!) escorted by the Rally Travel Guides. As the short video clip shows the action at Shakedown in Spain is always pretty fast and spectacular! Then, once the top crews have finished their runs we offer a short bus transfer to the Service Area for a first 'up close' look at the 2019 World Rally Cars.
There will be plenty of time to have a good look around the Service Park, and usually the crowds are smaller here on the Shakedown day giving more opportunities for autographs and selfies with the WRC stars!
In the afternoon im 2018 there was the re-introduction of the Barcelona Street-Stage, so after lunch at the hotel we headed up to the city centre in plenty of time for the build-up to the rally start including classic rally-car demonstrations and an autograph session before the rally started with the spectacular stage around the Placa d'Espanya.
In 2018 we visited the gravel stages on the first full day of Rally Spain, which are some of the best in the WRC from a spectator's perspective. We visited a fantastic fast & flowing section on the Terra Alta stage where the cars blasted along a gravel section of stage, super-fast in places reminiscent of Finland and with plenty of open viewing for our spectator groups (see image).
Then, after a break for a drink and sandwich in the picturesque town of Bot we visited the Pesells Stage for more action before heading back to Salou for the WRC Service Area and our optional VIP visit to the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team to watch close-up as the cars were converted from gravel to asphalt specification ready for the next day's stages. During the short journey back to our hotel the Rally Travel Tour Guides detailed the day's happenings and the latest news as the crews headed towards their service visits.
Saturday always features some of the classic Rally Catalunya asphalt stages and in 2018 we returned to a fantastic section of stage we first discovered in 2017 on the then-brand new Savalla Stage. In 2017 we stayed for both runs through the stage, taking time out between for a relaxed lunch in the beautiful village of Conesa, and the chance to enjoy the historic rally cars that ran through the stage in between WRC runs.
In the evening some Guests chose to be dropped off at the Service Park, others at the hotel whilst some walked into Salou Town to see the final stage of the day run through the seafront area of Salou.
In 2017 (see video) and 2018 we enjoyed an action packed final day of the rally including viewing the 2 tarmac stages at the legendary Ruidecanyes stage (complete with much drifting around the roundabouts!) before returning to Salou for the Ceremonial finish of the rally. To add to the excitement the 1st run of the Ruidecanyes stage takes place just as dawn breaks over the mountains, creating an amazing spectacle and some stunning photo opportunities.
In the evening Guests were invited to join us at the various bars and nightclubs in Salou where the WRC drivers joined in with the 'After-Rally Parties' including messrs Loeb, Solberg & Neuville in the early hours of Monday in 2018...
A reasonably late departure and check-out from the 4 star Regina Gran Hotel (9:30am in 2018), and then the return bus journey to Barcelona airport where we aim to arrive at 12:00noon to enable Guests to meet their flight connections home.
The Rally Travel Tour Guides will ensure all guests are fully up to date with the final results and news from the rally before they begin their journey home, and during the weekend our SMS text messaging service will have supplied overnight leaderboards & start orders to our Guests.
BARCELONA airport - For 2019 we will be including an airport transfer from the main Barcelona Airport ('El Prat' airport code: BCN).
Transfer times are 16:00 on Wednesday 23rd October 2019 from the airport, returning back there for 12:00 on Monday 28th.
There are good public transfer links between Barcelona and Salou should guests want to arrive/depart at different times.
REUS airport - As this airport (www.ryanair.com) is only 12km from Salou we would suggest Guests take the public bus service from the airport to our Hotel or our Reservations Team (tel. 01765 640055) can assist in pre-booking a Taxi for the short journey.
As we have Rally Fans joining our Tours from all over the World, we do not include flights in any of our packages. Guests can choose and book flights themselves which best suit their requirements, so long as they work around our Escorted Tour's designated airport and transfer times/dates, or make their own alternative arrangements.
We suggest www.skyscanner.net to find flight options, and then check direct with the airline websites for true availability and prices.
If you can not find suitable flights on the days that are required then you can extend your stay on most of our tours - please click here to email us your requirements for additional nights at the destination.
